Times of Trials

At some point in our lives we will all hear things that we don't want to hear. These issues become our trials. These trials make a permanent impression on our lives. They will often times change the direction that you had in mind for yourself or slow you down. These trials can bring to past great pain, suffering and fear of the unknown. These trials may not be known by others or they may. Sometimes these trials can make you want to shut down or give up realizing that there is a long road ahead that will not be easy and in the end it still might not be fixed. Each individual in one way or another will feel the great impact that personal trials can bring. No one has a perfect life and no one will ever have a perfect life. It's all about choices. We can choose to be happy or choose to be miserable as we face these trials. It is always easy to be happy when everything is going well and how we feel it should be. When we are in these dark places in life it is easy to feel that the Lord has forgotten you and is not aware of your circumstances. 
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf said, "wherever you are, whatever your circumstances may be, you are not forgotten. No matter how dark your days may seem, no matter how insignificant you may feel, no matter how overshadowed you think you may be, your Heavenly Father has not forgotten you. In fact, He loves you with an infinite love."
When our trials start to feel overwhelming and when we choose to endure and have faith the Lord will bless us. In small ways and usually through other people. It's when you take a step back and open your eyes that you start to understand that the Lord has truly been with you. Guiding you to the individuals who can best help you to overcome these trials. 

Life is a Blessing!

I am a horrible blogger. I need to improve on my blog skills. Lately, I have been grateful for family and the blessings that comes from family. Jesse has been a huge blessing in my life. I am so grateful for the man I married and the joy that he brings to me. Jesse and I have been trying to finish up are schooling. Jesse has to drive to Salt Lake City twice a week. I am so grateful that my Heavenly Father has watched over him and protected him during the past few years. I have been lucky enough to be able to take online classes. It has been such a blessing in my life and I am grateful that I have the opportunity to go to school. I am preparing to apply to a nursing program this coming February and can't wait to one day be a nurse. Jesse is getting excited for basketball season to start. I know that the Lord knows each of our needs and that He watches out for all of His children. Life is a blessing! I am so very grateful for family and the support they give to us.

The Lion King on Broadway Spring Break 2010

Jesse surprised me with tickets to the Lion King in Las Vegas for Valentine's Day. We took the trip to Vegas over spring break. This trip was so much fun and it was completely unforgettable. The show was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who loves broadway shows. Jesse is not a big broadway fan. He is really into sports but when we left that evening we both had truly loved the experience.

Valentine's Day: Love Was In The Air :)

Jesse took me to dinner for Valentine's Day. In Wendover the places that you eat are either buffets, cafes,or fast food. There aren't too many choices in Wendover. He took me to a buffet. It was so exciting because this year for Valentine's Day Jesse got us tickets for the Lion King in Las Vegas. It will be a fun and exciting trip. I am so grateful for my husband. He is wonderful and I am not sure what I would do without him. I ended up giving Jesse the Lonesome Dove TV Series. It consisted of 6 discs. Anyone who knows Jesse well knows that he loves western movies. Lonesome Dove is his all time favorite movie that happens to be SIX hours long. Where Valentine's Day was on Sunday I had a little Special surprise in mind. It was a candle light dinner for two at home. He was so surprised after coming home from a long day of church meetings. I even made a heart shaped cake. Jesse's favorite is yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The dinner consisted of Turkey Steaks with gravy, potatoes, and green beans. I had fun with it

Our Life In Wendover

Jesse & I moved to Wendover,Utah to start our new adventure together. After Jesse had graduated in May 2009 from Utah State we weren't quite sure where we would end up.

Jesse & I never thought we would be in Wendover but we are enjoying life. Jesse is working as a teacher in Special Education. He teaches language arts 7th-12th graders. I am working as a Title I Aide. It has truly been a blessing in our lives but with every blessing there are trials and sacrifices that follow. Being in Wendover has given us so many opportunities to service and become a part of the community. After being here only a few short days we received a knock on our door. At the time it was the Branch President who said he would like to meet with us in his office. An hour later Jesse was asked to be in the Branch Presidency. He was sustained a week later. Last fall I coached volleyball at Wendover High School. It was a great experience that has given me some great memories. At the end of volleyball season Jesse received a phone call from the District Presidency wanting to meet with him. I later found out that he was asked to accept a calling in the District Presidency. That Sunday he was sustained. I have had the chance to be able to help out with boy scouts. What I have learned so far is that Webelos are wild little boys. Maybe it is just my group but it sure makes for a long hour and a half. Don't get me wrong I am enjoying it. I am also helping with the Brownies. It is totally a different experience from boy scouts but I really have enjoyed getting to know all the younger kids since I work with most of their older siblings. Jesse has also been coaching the boy's basketball team. I know the season has been a little hard and maybe even discouraging at times but he has gained the respect from the team and I know that they look to him as an example. I have been helping out with cheerleading this year and it has been a wonderful experience. Now that basketball and cheerleading are finally coming to an end. All that we have left for cheerleading is try-outs which will be in April or May. March 1st is the start of track season and this year I am the assistant track coach. That should be a great experience. So here is the update on the Calder Family and I can say that Wendover is a place of its own but life is what you make of it. We are truly happy with where we are in life.

Fishing on the Blacksmith

We had a dutch oven cookout last week up Blacksmith Fork Canyon and luckily the fish were biting as well. The first one I caught was a whopping 4 inches long or so but the next one wasn't quite as bad. Good Company, Good food, and good fishing makes for a great night!!
